Day 1: Arrival In Bangkok

Welcome to Bangkok, Thailand’s throbbing metropolitan capital. Upon your arrival, your friendly local tour guide will be waiting to meet you and take you to your hotel for check-in. Spend the evening indulging in your first REAL taste of vibrant, world-renowned Thai-cuisine, or living the high life at a rooftop bar, marvelling at the pulsating city below.

Day 2: Floating Market- Grand Palace- Wat Arun - Wat Pho

After breakfast at your hotel, your local guide awaits to begin your discovery of the Land of Smiles. After a short drive to Ratchaburi Province, you’ll spend the morning aboard a private longtail boat, snaking your way through the winding canals to one of the country’s most iconic sites, Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Grab a fresh coconut juice or mid-morning snack from one of the vendors as they paddle by in their wooden canoes laden with tropical fruit.

After the market, you’ll be driven back to heart of Bangkok to explore Wat Phra Kaew and the Grand Palace. These two dazzling 18th-century structures are some of Thailand’s most striking, and it’s easy to see why the western world was once so envious of their architectural brilliance. Wat Phra Kaew is the holiest site in the country, and home to its most important icon, the Emerald Buddha; the Grand Palace has been the official residence to the Kings of Siam since 1782, and it’s not hard to see why with the kind of oriental opulence displayed here. After the Palace, you’ll make a quick stop to admire the world’s largest solid gold Buddha, standing some three metres high, before moving on to Wat Arun, or ‘Temple of the Dawn’, Bangkok’s towering, most-distinctive landmark, considered one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand. We end the day at Wat Pho, the city’s oldest temple and home to the magnificent forty-five metre-long Reclining Buddha, a depiction of the true Buddha entering nirvana. The temple is also a centre for traditional medicine, and is the ultimate place to unwind with a Thai massage before you’re taken by to your hotel for the night.

Day 3: Bangkok-Khao Tai National Park

Today, head to Khao Yai National Park about three hours drive from Bangkok for a jungle safari. Join your guide on a trek through grasslands to the wildlife watchtower and salt lick to spot animals. Then cool off with a swim at a waterfall before returning back to town.  This evening head out again for a night safari and if you are lucky you might see the nocturnal animals that roam the park, such as large Indian civet cats, porcupines, samba and other deer. You might even see wild elephants!

Day 4: Korat-Pi Mai Historical

Visit the Ban Prasart archaeological excavation site and let your kids become the next Indiana Jones! Set up as an outdoor museum, it consists of three pits that have been landscaped and are open to the public. Bones and pots have been found dating the site as far back as 3,000 years. Then head to Bangkok arriving late in the afternoon and check into the Bangkok Tree House.

Day 5: Kanchanaburi-Khao Leam Houseboat Lake Safari

Learn the tragic history behind one of the world’s most famous bridges as you head to Kanchanaburi about four hours by road.  Take a walk over the bridge at River Kwai, built by prisoners of World War II, and slave labour many of whom lost their lives during construction.  After lunch, the journey continues to a lakeside village where you will board a Thai houseboat. Spend the afternoon swimming, relaxing on deck, or napping in a hammock as the houseboat slowly cruises around the lake.

Day 6: Lake Cruising-Caves-Tribal-Elephant Ride-River Rafting

Wake up to the sound of the water gently lapping against the boat. Get set for a day of adventure starting with kayaking to small caves inhabited by hundreds of bats. Board a long-tail boat to reach a Karen hill tribe village and take a walk through the village and say hi to the locals. Then meet your elephant for a walk through the jungle followed by bamboo river rafting.  Return to the houseboat in the afternoon just in time for snooze in a hammock.

Day 7: Khao Leam-Hua Hin

Spend your last morning swimming, fishing and sunbathing on your water based home. Around mid-morning, a motorboat will take you to the village of Wang Kha, home to a number of ethnic minorities. Explore a picturesque temple and wander through a Burmese market selling crafts and jewellery. Continue to Sangkhlaburi via Thailand’s longest wooden bridge, where a vehicle will be waiting to transfer you to Hua Hin for a relaxing beach break.

Day 8: Hua Hin

Hua Hin has an eight-kilometre stretch of beach perfect for a relaxing holiday. It’s a favourite with the Thai Royals and the jet-set who have built their own beachfront summer homes along the curving sandy bay. Besides sun-filled days on the long coastline there are leisure activities for the whole family. With lots of water sports, parks, caves and waterfalls, not to mention the world class golf courses.

Day 9: Hua Hin Departure

Enjoy one final morning of sun and sand before you are taken to the airport for your onward flight, leaving Thailand having explored its most authentic region, having experienced the throbbing pulse of the capital, and having lived a postcard dream in a tropical beach paradise - it won’t be long before you’re craving another trip to Southeast Asia.
