Welcome to Siem Reap, the gateway to the Kingdom of Wonder! Upon your arrival, a friendly local guide will be waiting at the airport to greet you and take you to your hotel to check-in.The rest of the day is yours to relax, rest and if jet-lag permits, do a little exploring of the downtown area.
After breakfast at your hotel, your awe-inspiring Angkor tour begins. First you will visit Angkor Thom, the last capital of the once great and vast Khmer empire. You'll enter through the grand South Gate, so you can see the ancient bridge depicting the legend of the 'Churning of the Milk'. Through the entrance and its on to visit the iconic Bayon temple, with its many wise smiling faces, Baphoun, the impressive Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Lunch will be held at local restaurant.In the afternoon, enjoy a tour through the famous Ta Prohm temple, the so-called 'jungle temple', where beautiful fig trees are slowly reclaiming the temple site.This evening, you will enjoy a delicious welcome dinner, whilst watching a traditional Apsara Dance Performance at Angkor Village Resort.Overnight in Siem Reap.
After breakfast, you will start your tour by visiting the spectacular World-Heritage site, Angkor Wat. This incredible monument built in the 12th century, stands as a testament to the dedication and skill of the ancient Khmer people and is truly one of the wonders of the modern world. Lunch will be held at a local restaurant.In the afternoon, you'll explore the beautifully preserved 'Citadel of women' - Banteay Srei Temple. This temple is located a bit further out of the city, so on the way back you can stop at a typical Khmer village to have a little insight into what everyday life is like for most of local people.This evening is yours to explore the town and soak in the atmosphere.
After breakfast, you will head out to learn more about the unique ecosystem and biggest largest fresh water lake in Southeast Asia, the Tonle Sap Lake. Enjoy the breathtaking views and see the local fishermen and their families living their lives. Once you're back on dry land, you'll get the chance to take a stroll through the bustling Old Market and maybe pick up a souvenir or two.
In the afternoon, you'll be taken to the airport for your short flight to Phnom Penh, the bustling capital of Cambodia. Upon your arrival, your local tour guide will waiting to greet you and take you to your hotel to check-in. The rest of the day is free to explore this thriving fascinating city.Overnight in Phnom Penh.
Today after breakfast, your highlights of your Phnom Penh tour starts with a visit to the beautiful grounds of the Royal Residence complex; which includes the fascinating National Museum, the Silver Pagoda and incredible the Royal Palace itself. Lunch will be held at a local restaurant, before a reflective afternoon touring the Killing Fields and Toul Sleng Genocide Museum.The evening is yours; perhaps a stroll down the recently remodeled waterfront.
At 8:00 am, boarding will begin at the pier in Phnom Penh. Enjoy a breathtaking view as your cruise sets sail to Koh Dek Chau Island. Upon your arrival, take a stroll through the lovely village and discover the ways of daily life in Cambodia.After lunchtime, we will make our way to Kaam Samnor. Your cruise will drop its anchor here overnight on the river between the border of Cambodia and Vietnam.Enjoy some free time before a welcome dinner and drink on board to celebrate your first evening.
After breakfast, your cruise will depart for Chau Doc. Upon arrival, enjoy an extensive tour and introduction with a Vietnamese guide before having lunch at the Victoria Hotel restaurant at approximately 13:30. Chau Doc is a remote border town full of many different cultures. The city is known for its vivid and vibrant colors with floating fish farms, colonial buildings, and many markets. Local boats will ferry you to visit the Cham village, a minority in Vietnam and Cambodia.Once you return to the Victoria hotel, take a stroll through Chau Doc market where you will enjoy a glistening view of the rice paddies on the peak of Sam Mountain. On your way back to the hotel, you will stop to visit Lady Chua Xu temple and Tay An Pagoda.Enjoy the mesmerizing sunset before having dinner at the Victoria Hotel's restaurant.In the evening, you will have free time to enjoy the Victoria hotel facilities or have a wander through the city before returning to the boat.
After a leisurely breakfast and lunch on board, we will make our way to Sa Dec, where you will take a short panoramic tour of this peaceful city full of tree-lined streets, fading colonial villas and a myriad of orchards and flower markets. Next, you will take a bus to visit Vuong primary school before continuing on to visit the beautiful Kien An Cung Pagoda. Take a stroll around Sa Dec Market along the River bank, and then visit a nursery of flower and bonsai trees before returning to the boat for the evening.Following a relaxing dinner, we will begin to sail towards Vinh Long. Along the way our cruise will drop its anchor for the evening.
In the early morning, you will complete the rest of the journey to Vinh-Long as you enjoy a lovely breakfast. Located in the middle of the delta between two arms of the mighty Mekong River, life in this city centers on water, consisting of houses that are hoisted up on stilts that are planted into banks of the river. Upon your arrival, you will take a local boat to visit a brick and pottery factory and the Binh Hoa Phuoc Islet Nursery of Fruit Trees.After lunch, we will continue your cruise to My Tho. In the early evening, your cruise will drop its anchor near Thoi Son Island, where you will enjoy traditional music by local musicians as you relax in the peaceful sunset.Return to the ship and have a splendid dinner, followed by free time for the rest of the evening.
After breakfast, relax on deck and admire the scenery as we make our way to My Tho, a market town known for its many orchards, rice plantations and the most extensive cultivation of rice, coconuts, bananas, mangoes, longans, and citrus fruits of Vietnam. You will be transferred to the mainland by a local boat where you will then travel to Vinh Trang Pagoda by car. Enjoy a panoramic view of My Tho on the drive as you head to Dong Tam Snake Farm and My Tho Market to discover the local gardens and rice fields.Once you return to the pier, you will take a local boat to Thoi Son Island where you can explore the daily activities of the people as you enjoy some fresh local fruit.We will continue to make our way down the river as you enjoy your lunch. Relax on board for the afternoon.Enjoy your last evening on board with a farewell dinner as the boat drops its anchor for night.
In the early morning, we will depart for Saigon. After enjoying your final lunch on board, you will be dropped off at the pier, your local guide will be waiting for you and take you to the hotel for check-in.The rest of the day is free at your leisure to explore the city on your own.
After breakfast at your hotel, you will start your tour by visiting Cu Chi Tunnels; a vast network of tunnels made by the Viet Cong during the war. On the way back to the city, you will make a stop to have a traditional Vietnamese cooking class, which includes a fascinating trip to a local organic farm. At the end of the lesson, you can sit down to enjoy the fruits of your labour!
After your delicious lunch, drive back to Ho Chi Minh and enjoy an afternoon of sight seeing, which will include: admiring the architecture of the Old Saigon Post Office, getting a taste of a local marketplace at the Binh Tay Market, learning more about the wars of Vietnam and the effects they had on the country, at the War Remnants Museum and finally visiting the impressive French colonial-style City Hall.The evening is yours to explore the city and sample some of the world's favourite food!
This morning, is your last chance to wander around the city and soak in the atmosphere. Finally, it'll be time for your guide take you to the airport for your flight on to your next destination. Vietnam is a unique cultural experience and hopefully, by the time you leave, you will have a new appreciation for this incredible country and it's people.
